Accomplice of Celtic lands, based in Sligo

Ireland has this rare ability to create genuine connection very quickly. A landscape, some music, a conversation in a pub – and the trip takes on a whole different dimension.

Charline

Based in Ireland with the Alainn Tours team, Charline guides travelers through the discovery of Celtic countries with special attention to listening and the pace of your journey. The agency, founded in Ireland in 1991, has carried for over thirty years a strong connection to these distinctive territories, between wild landscapes, living traditions and singular atmospheres. Charline loves designing trips that allow you to experience Ireland beyond its most well-known images: coastal roads, villages, lively pubs, moorlands, cliffs, music, encounters and heritage. Her approach is built on proximity, advice and a genuine understanding of travelers' expectations. With her, Ireland unfolds as a land of stories, nature and simple emotions, where each stage can become an encounter with the Celtic spirit.

Everything you need to know about Ireland

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Ireland?

Ireland can be visited almost year-round, provided you embrace its changeable weather: here, you sometimes experience four seasons in a single afternoon. From May to September, daylight stretches until 10 pm, the Cliffs of Moher stand out in golden light, and Connemara displays its most vibrant hues. July and August remain the liveliest months, but also the most crowded, particularly along the Wild Atlantic Way. April, June, and September offer a better balance for a peaceful trip to Ireland, with mild weather. Winter, more rugged, lends itself to urban escapes in Dublin, Galway, or Belfast, centered around pubs, traditional music sessions, and long evenings by the fire.

What budget should you plan for a trip to Ireland?

Ireland is not a budget destination, and it's best to know that before you go. For a 10 to 12-day circuit in Ireland with B&B accommodation, a rental car and a few visits, expect an average of €1,800 to €2,500 per person excluding flights, more during high season or with upscale accommodations such as manor houses and country estates. The biggest expenses remain accommodation and vehicle rental, particularly between June and August. Conversely, food in pubs remains affordable, and many landscapes – the Kerry peninsulas, Burren, Donegal coastlines – can be discovered free of charge. A tailor-made trip to Ireland allows you to adjust this budget by playing with the season, pace and level of comfort.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Ireland?

Established in Sligo since 1991, we design every itinerary from the island itself, not from a Paris office. That makes a real difference: we know Donegal's back roads, the B&Bs where breakfast conversations still happen at a leisurely pace, the pub in Doolin where Thursday night's session is worth the detour. By booking through a local agency in Ireland, you skip the middlemen and work directly with English-speaking advisors who have themselves explored Kerry, Connemara, and the Causeway Coast. You also gain a reliable contact once you're on the ground. It's your guarantee of a trip tailored to your pace, your preferences, and the realities of Irish terrain—sometimes unpredictable.

What to see on an Ireland tour?

A first trip to Ireland is often organized around the west coast, along the Wild Atlantic Way: the Cliffs of Moher, the strange limestone plateau of the Burren, the Connemara mountains and the beaches of Mayo. Further north, Donegal offers wilder, less frequented landscapes where Irish is still spoken. In the south, the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry concentrate much of the country's postcard views. As for cities, Dublin for literature and pubs, Galway for its bohemian atmosphere, Belfast and the Giant's Causeway to cross into the north. Returning travelers, meanwhile, often set out to explore the Aran Islands, Achill or the volcanic landscapes of Antrim.

Alainn Tours is a different kind of agency that doesn't cater to those looking for cheap mass tourism. The employees of this agency are all Ireland and Scotland specialists and will try to show you "their" country in a different way, always personalized.
